Nickel Wire, as an industrial special metal wire, mainly follows the ASTM B345 American standard. The core grades in the industry are Ni200 and Ni201, which are the most widely used high-purity nickel wires in the global chemical, electronic, new energy, and electroplating fields. They are also the core special materials that distinguish them from nickel alloy wire and stainless steel wire. Their performance core advantages are concentrated in four directions: strong alkali corrosion resistance, high-purity conductivity, non-magnetic stability, and high-temperature brittleness resistance.

From the essence of the material, both Ni200 and Ni201 are commercial pure nickel with a nickel purity of ≥ 99.6%. The core difference lies in the control of carbon content: Ni200 has a carbon content of ≤ 0.15%, excellent performance at room temperature, good plasticity, outstanding electrical and thermal conductivity, and is suitable for room temperature electronic, electroplating, and precision component fields; Ni201 carbon content is strictly controlled at ≤ 0.02%. It is a recognized high-temperature and strong alkali special nickel wire in the industry, which can effectively avoid the risk of "alkali brittleness cracking" in high-temperature caustic soda and strong alkali media. It is a necessary material for the chemical chlor alkali industry. Both have the commonalities of non-magnetic, anti-oxidation, and easy bending welding, stable mechanical properties, and can be drawn to ultra-fine specifications of 0.05mm, suitable for high-precision machining.
At the industry application level, the use of pure nickel wire has strong industry specificity. In the field of electronics and electrical engineering, 0.05-0.3mm ultrafine Ni200 nickel wire is the core material for sensor leads, lithium battery lugs, precision resistors, and vacuum components. With stable conductivity and fatigue resistance, it is suitable for the development trend of new energy and microelectronics miniaturization; In the electroplating industry, 0.3-2.0mm Ni200 nickel wire is a specialized wire for electroplating anodes, with high purity to ensure uniform dissolution and a fine and impurity free coating. It is widely used for nickel plating processing of hardware and electronic components; In the chemical chlor alkali industry, 2.0-5.0mm Ni201 nickel wire is the core raw material for strong alkali pipelines, seals, and electrolytic cell accessories. It can withstand high temperature caustic soda corrosion above 100 ℃ and is an irreplaceable material to replace stainless steel; In addition, pure nickel wire is also used for laboratory equipment, high-temperature heating elements, and customized shaped coils, suitable for high-end precision manufacturing niche needs.
On the production side of the industry, the core threshold for pure nickel wire lies in purity control, ultra-fine drawing, and impurity control. The raw materials must be electrolytic nickel billets, and harmful impurities such as sulfur, iron, and copper must be strictly controlled; The wire drawing process adopts multi pass precision cold drawing technology to avoid surface scratches and internal cracks; The annealing process requires precise temperature control to balance hardness and plasticity. Domestic mainstream manufacturers are mostly concentrated in special metal industry belts such as Baoji and Wuxi. American standard Ni200/Ni201 products are mainly exported to Europe, America, and Southeast Asia, suitable for overseas industrial, chemical, and new energy project procurement.
